Seven permanent classrooms & a multi-purpose
room formed a major part of the redevelopment
plan for Mount Anville. Originally to be of
conventional build, John Fleming Architects
elected to use off-site construction to expedite
the programme and to reduce costs.
Solution:
After a rigorous tender process, Roan Building Systems
was awarded the contract and in collaboration with the
architects set about modularizing the original plans.
Five of the new classrooms would open into an imposing
new atrium constructed by Merrion Contracting, while
the remaining two classrooms & multi-purpose room
would be individually annexed to the existing school
corridor.
Forming a key part of the new school, these buildings
needed to be aesthetically pleasing while possessing
the build quality & longevity of life expected from
a permanent building. A Deep Mono pitched roof, overhanging
a metre proud of the buildings combined with large windows
& Tech-Wood exterior cladding gave the classrooms
a strikingly distinct & modern look.
